Can a LS2 cam walk ?
Can a LS2 cam walk ? I need some help here, we have a freshly installed LS2 with a new after market cam in it and we keep getting a code for high cam sensor voltage.
I did some searching and every thread I found said cam walk..
I'm not familiar enough to know why or how it would walk, any help would be appreciated.

i could be mistaken but weren't some people having issues with the reluctors on the cam actually being different than what was taken out? how about the cam sensor itself? those are also prone to crapping out.
With the front mounted cam sensor, that would not cause that code. LS1 with the sensor at the back of the block, yes, but not a gen 4.
The next question would be what type of car is this in and what is done to it? If I'm not mistaken, there are two different cam gears and sensors that are used on the LS2 depending on what computer they are used with. I've dealing with a cam sensor code on an LS7 swap I've been dealing with, and that is what I have found out. Whether or not that would cause you're issue, I'm not sure.

Your car (or computer) will be looking for a 1x cam signal from the LS2 sensor.Before you tear everything down,switch the two outer wires on you sensor extension harness ,clear and try it again.You are looking for low to hi/hi to low counts as well as an active tach. If you now get a P0342,suspect possibly wrong cam gear.Later as in 06 up LS2-LS7 have a 4x reluctor on the cam gear(ask me how I know

Not only can a cam walk on you on a LS motor build but is more common of a problem than most may be aware of if the motor is not properly build and the right checks and balances are ignored by the engine builder!
