Putting together an LS2 and got some ?s So I was going to build an ls1 but found out thats its 400 bucks cheaper for an ls2. So why not go for more cubes if your on a budget eh? So any way all I really need is to build a shortblock. My question is what kind of machine work will a brand new block need? Also, what size of forged pistons should I get since I have read that quality forged pistons need less bore clearance due to less expansion issues. I also want to use my stock ls1 crank but will get new rods (90000+ miles).

Im not sure what you should do as far as internals go. But if this is going into an LS1 car you will need to use your old tb(not sure if it will mate up to a LS2 intake. The LS2s tb is drive by wire which will not work with the 98-02 f bodies. I know you asked about what to do for building a shortblock but i thought this may help.
