LS2 pistons use a 1.2, 1.5, 3.0 ring pack which I never found aftermarket. The GM rings are low tension. The 6.0 Truck uses a 1.5,1.5, 3.0 ring pack. I am not sure about the LQ9 truck motors pistons. The LS2 rings are a little pricey @ 19-22.00 a piston.
I have used both in a 4.0 bore. The LS2 piston rod is a little beefier, but not much.
LS2 pistons are floater pins with the rods also to be considered when swapping around parts. Hope this helps.

The physical piston dimensions are the same - The LS2 aluminum block has some better features as bay to bay ports for better breathing over an Iron block. This doesn't affect the bore or stroke configuration. Why would you want to go to truck stuff - The LS2 stuff is superior to the truck stuff. It will work though. The bob weight will be about 5-10 grams heavier on the truck stuff, so if you are changing parts keep that in mind. GM factory balances to about 2-3 grams @ best, and you could get outside that window. Weigh what you remove and put back the same weight and you can save the rebalancing procedure. This varies some from engine to engine, and parts to parts; thats why I am telling all of this FYI. Bottom line - the truck stuff will work and fit in the engine. It won't be an upgrade - but it would be a fix, if you are just trying to repair and get running again. Good Luck
