The cam is really mild for this car. To me it drives very similar to a 224/224 cam. The car has more cubes so it swallows up the cam nicely. It surges very little, but only below 1500 in 4th and 5th gear. In 6th there is no surging at all. Still get 24-26 on the hwy and runs 10's all day long.

Mr. Z51, What is your car's trap speed in the quarter mile. I've seen a lot of pretty high dyno numbers on the Z06s but not too much quarter mile info.

Strong numbers for the mods you have. That 60 is outstanding as well. Stock tires or DR? The engine sounds like you really hooked on the hit. Do you think the surge a low rpm's can be worked out? It's interesting that it will surge in the lower gears then straighten out in 6th. Nice job.

Its been worked out. Its barely there. You will never get it to run completly like stock. It has a cam and with that there are some things to live with. Let me put it this way. I said it to be fair, but my wife doesn't notice it, so all is well. It doesn't do it in 6th because there is more load on the car in 6th. The object to get the car to stop bucking is to get a good load on the motor in those other gears through air flow, fuel, and timing. I ran those times on 17'' ET Streets.

If you do a search for the QM600 cam for the LS7, you'll see it's pretty much in the 540-550rwhp range. With ported heads, people are seeing very close to 600 with that.

LG has their G7X series of cams and the top dog there with ported heads has put out 620rwhp.

Katech's cams are doing 550rwhp as well with the right combination of parts.

550+ is very doable in the LS7.

I searched the QM600 cam. Sounds like it makes some power in a larger engine. I didn't see any spec's on it however.

Carlos does not give the cam specs on his cam in public forums. I can tell you that the cam in my car is very very close in design to the QM600. Cam works great in an LS7 Z06. If you are interested in a cam I would advise you to call Thunder and talk to Geoff. He would probably tell you to the same cam as in my car. Works very well and makes excellent numbers. I just ordered a set of hand ported heads from HPE today. I am hoping for 580-600rwhp.

I have the QM600 cam that you guys are discussing and I love it! It's a little bit bigger then MrZ's cam and has the idle and drivability very decent right now with just a little bit of tweaking to do. I had a much smaller cam in before this and honestly the QM600 idles and has better driveability then the smaller one. Really it's all in the tune! Traver

A car that gets 24-26 mph and runs 10's at over 130 is damn impressive. Also Id say that 550 Rwhp with a 427 isnt that hard, and many combos can hit that number
