I agree, there's a sense of satisfaction when you know you built it yourself. Plus you do it with extra care, a shop considers motor building as part of their day job.

Some of the other Corvette guys think it's a hobby to hire someone to do all their car mods. I think it's like hiring a gigolo to do your girl 'cause you can't do it right.

Well, you can always just buy the bare block as well as the crank, rods, pistons, bearings, and do everything yourself.

I'd rather have it done right. Not the same as doing a H/C set up, or a set of headers.

you still hve to hve the block machined somewhere else.
