Default Please help me out guys.

I have a 2005 LS2 engine in my 2001 formula. It has the 4l65 trans in it as well. Anyways since I had gotten the engine put in a month and a half ago it has had a problem. It had a ses light on sice it was installed in my car. I went to the dealership they came back with a cam sensor code they said. So I had my local shop put a new cam sensor put in to it. Now the ses light is still on. The big problem lies here. When I go to start the car sometimes it will act like it has a dying battery. Then after like 5 seconds of trying to start it the car will turn over finally. The other times it starts right up. I would say it is about a 50 to 50 ratio for this incident happening. Now my shop told me that he found out from a GM tech that there were two different cam sensor sprockets, and that this might be where the problem lies. He is running the vin of the 05 gto that the engine came out of. Won't know till tomorrow or maybe even monday what sprocket is in the engine. It sucks right now my car sounds like **** when it is having trouble starting. It is a very low mileage ls2 and was running in perfect condition before it went in the car. I saw it running several times in the other car this is how I know. He says if it is just the sensor sprocket that needs to be switched out then it wont be expensive. He says that if it isnot the sprcoket issue then I may have to reoplacem my computer. HThe shop put the engine in their and never told me anything like this before. Now I might be stuck buying a new computer to fit this engine in my car. What do I do and have any of you guys ever heard of anything like this before. I seriously don't have any more money to throw in to this car. Especially for a whole new computer system. I have dumped so much money in to this car in the past few months and now I am just sick of wasting my money on this money pit. Please help me out.

Hey bud. It sounds like the polarity needs to be reversed on the cam sensor wires ! Alot of these new wiring packages were shipped out with the outside wires wrong. Of the 3 wires coming out of the sensor just reverse the outside two. So what you would do is cut the 2 outside wires and leave the middle alone. Solder them to the opposite side wire and just tape up ! The code was propably P0343 and you had farting type sounds and growning when trying to turn the car over right. Been there

This shoud fix it up for ya! Good Luck

the reason the car won't start easy is that the cam sensor is looking to see the piston at the point it wants it. Tell the tech what I told you !

Motley's got it right. All the tech needs to do to determine if this is the problem is to pull a wiring diagram for the connector, unplug it and check for + and -, and make sure they are or arent in the right cavity of the connector. The only thing I would do differently than Motley suggested, is to use the proper pin tool to push the connector pins out and swap them, istead of cutting and soldering the wires. Otherwise hes right on.
