LSX Blower Cam recommendation
 
Any suggestions for a streetable cam for this motor in a 6000+lb Avalanche. Hoping to mount an Eaton TV 2300 blower on top of it. Will be going to an 80E trans. TC stall speed yet to be determined.

Or.....any comments on these 2 cams?

1. Dur 253/256, Lift 646/630, LSA 114 +4

2. Dur 220/230, Lift .597/607, LSA 115 +2

LPE GT2-3 207/220 .571/.578 118.5 or maybe even an LS7 (211/230). I mostly tune my own stuff, but I can't imagine getting the driveability of a big cam right on a blown tank like you have. I would stick with something small, but that is just me. Most of your power is going to come from the blower, not the cam anyways.

I had the GT2-3 in my Firehawk and it idled stock but pulled hard. I had a powerdyne on it too, and the low overlap made the blower shine. I have heard it is a popular cam with the truck guys too. Just get some good heads to take advantage of the lift.

The GT2-3 is a proven performer. I just think it would be a little small for the
new motor:

LSX block(427)
Callies Comp Star 4340 4.0" crankshaft
Callies 6.125" H beam rods /ARP 2000 7/16" bolts
Wiseco 4.125" custom forged nitrous pistons, 30cc dish\NPR stainless chrome rings 1.2 1.2 3mm
Clevite 2199 H main brgs, Clevite CB663 H rod brgs, Dura Bond CH-23 cam brgs
ARP main studs

ET LS7 ETP LS7 CNC ported cylinder heads/6 bolt per cylinder/70cc/ Titanium 2.200" int. Inconel 1.60" exh. /dual springs, titanium retainers, machined locators & locks, GM valve seals.
Roll master double roller timing set w/ torington bearing & nitrided gears.
Melling 10296 High Volume Oil Pump ported & shimmed
Morel Hyd Roller lifters
Head studs -ARP LSX L 19 for 6 bolt cylinder 12 pt. head stud kit
Cometic MLS head gaskets
Comp push Rods
Crower LS7 Rockers

THe cams you listed would be completely wrong for something like that from what I would guess youd be trying to do with it. What exactly would you be trying to do? Picking cyl head first would be paramount... then look into cams

After reading your motor specs I wonder why you are bothering with the blower? That motor should be good for 600 RWHP. That blower would probably be a restriction on it.

Dual springs good for 20psi and whatever lift is decided on. Although I don't think this blower would be capable of 20 psi on this motor.

No. I could use some more detailed info on this blower. Don't see a performance map posted for the R2300. http://www.eaton.com/EatonCom/Market...Maps/CT_139366

Then who knows if it will ever become available in a LS7 style configuration. Harrop says they just bumped their's back another 6 months. Might have to rethink the FI setup.

The 1900 is the biggest map I have seen.Production S/C's seem to be falling in the ls3/l92 line

At least there is very little overlap.

Yes, overlap (done right) makes more power period. YOU CANT "BLEED OFF" BOOST. Your trying to fill a cylinder, not pressurize your intake manifold to some arbitrary number. If your worried about losing torque.... if you make any boost whatsoever in the power curve...garunteed your making more torque than the most max torque you could possibly make NA anyway. Making 700 ft lbs at 3800 rpm with some overlap in the cam... plenty torquey enough for most :D
