Question Furrels?

I just bought Katech connecting rod bolts. The instructions say to remove the stock bolts and furrels. What are furrels? we didn't see anything to remove besides the bolts...

If you look at the mating surface of the rod, you will see a hollow dowel on each side. That is what you remove.

The 99 shouldn't have them, it should have the first design bolt which did not utilize the ferrul.

The ferrule should come out with the rod bolt, like mentioned above it is the collar/retaining sleeve (3) seen on the right hand rod bolt in the diagram above. Also as stated above your car shouldn't have them...
