At what point are aftermarket main studs needed?

Default At what point are aftermarket main studs needed?

I know they are always a good idea expecially if its a build in progress. But at what point, HP or TQ wise, should you actually make the effort to change from a stock setup to main studs? Can they be changed as easy as head studs, you know, just swap them out one at a time?

Thx in advance for any opinions.

It depends, what Block? How much power? Any power adder?

For us it came down to clamping force. An increase in diameter as well as material allowed us to effect more clamping force on the main caps.

Because of the different torque you would want to align hone the mains after installing studs.

The question stems from my L92 bluid in my sig. It does not have main studs. I might lower the compression a little and run a few pounds of boost. Like 700hp and am wondering how bad that is for the bottom end.

700HP I have studs because I have 500 HP. You will be way over the limit of OEM bolts.
