Replacing Rod Bolts. Tips/Tricks Needed Please So im gonna start removing my k member tomorrow to change my rod bolts in my 2000z28, just currious if anybody had any tips or tricks on doing this or any kind of advice?

Anytime you replace rod bolts you normally have them resized even with todays cracked cap and dowel technology i have seen the lower rod cap distortion after being untorqued. This could cause your bearing clearance to change when retorqued with the new bolts. This is caused by the heat cycles it has endured while being torque together.

GM rods are good just the bolts suck. I replaced mine with ARP 2000 bolts. Machine shop doing the work along with new Diamond pistons (L92 heads) with L92 valve reliefs in the new Diamonds. I know the rods need to be machined back to spec after changing bolts out like was said. Arp 2000 bolts will make it safe to 500 to 600 rwhp. Also factory crank on a LS2. I will make about 430 rwhp on motor & 600 hp on 2 stage nitrous with the Diamond pistons also better bearings. LOL
Katech rod bolts here. Swapped em in at 72K miles and have tenK on them since. I followed their instructions and lubed em with their special lube and did did one bolt at a time. Limiter is now set at 7K and I bounce off everytime I take the car out. No troubles
