Lifter questions
Are the following 2 characteristics normal:
1) It is nearly impossible to compress the lifter using a pushrod; the lifter is new out of the box and not oiled. There only seems to be a slight movement.
2) The rollers will not spin freely when removed from a new box. I soaked one lifter in oil overnight and it appears to spin freely now.

I am curious about question # 1 as well. Why are brand new lifters extremely hard to compress. The springs insde the lifters are weak enough to push down with your fingers. If the lifters are new(no oil) what is keeping the plunger from easily compressing. I understand once they are primed with oil, that you can't compress them but what gives with new ones?
