Thinking of a 402 build. Suggestions ...
Looking / think of a LS2 block 402, 408 somewhere in there build.
Engine would be used for road racing, so lots of low to mid range torque is needed for repeated getting out of corners. lots of 30-40 mph to 155+, three four time every 2 min for 20 to 40 min at a time
Must have immediate throttle response, hate engine lag.
22-2500 to 6500 rpm is fine.
Will run a dry sump system
No need for emissions compliance as not a street car and will run 100 octane.
Parts in the basement just waiting
LG Pro headers and exhaust
LG Carbon fiber drive shaft
LG Coil overs
Exedy carbon clutch
Several BIG Ron Davis Radiators
Need to Talk with Rockland Standard about tranzilla trans and diff.
GM Motorsports 6sd gear ratios. 2.29 first
Estimated race prep wt with cage, and me 2750-2800 lbs
At first I was going to update my LS6 but think this may be a better route. a C5R block road race engine is out of the budget
and LS7 may be possible but that is still $25,000+ for reliability. Have seen too many LS3s go boom on road course, lack of good oiling.
Thoughts or opinions on build options would be helpful.
TIA
Tom

throw a set of 205cc AFR heads that are blended for the ls2 bore and you will have exactly what your looking for me thinks for your 402. There was a thread about it a while back ago. Throttle response was unbelievable, made 500 horse down-low, and had good gas mileage to boot.

Hey Tom,
Kevin here. Take a look at my build. I've raced 2 wheels on most of the tracks on this continent and about 30 overseas. I'd take my motor on the track any day. Conservative build and makes an honest 510/470. 380RWT at 2200RPM and over 400 from 4k on up. The tip in is nuts.

+1 on the 402/403 build. I am building one for a DD right now so things will be different then what your looking for. But if you want to stay light, I say stay with the alluminum block and go for the stroked LS2.
