options for broken cam dowel pin
I assume I could send the cam back for repair.
What are some other options?
Is it possible to drill out the remaining portion and press in a new pin?
Suggestions would be appreciated.
fwiw there was no load on the cam other than one pushrod with a dial indicator on the end and a set of lifters, no rocker arms installed
There is no part of the dowel sticking out of the cam. The remaining portion is below the surface of the cam.
I will most likely call the place where I purchased the cam. I would like to avoid a 3-4 week delay.
I had read where one individual did not use a dowel, but I don't recall if he mentioned if it was a stock cam gear or not. With the slotted holes on my adjustable cam gear I am concerned it may slip sometime in the future. I could put the old gear back on but the timing was off with that one, or perhaps it was due to a very loose chain.
