Hello everyone I’m looking for some engine tech I’ve been told by someone building a l86 he’s using summit pro ls3 internals I asked a the guys at TExas speed if this is possible they said no …….. long story short I’m shooting for 1200+Rwhp and need rods and pistons GPI has a drop in rod and piston kit for $1,899 with rod bearings lsxeleration has one for $1,899 no rod bearings both are supposed to be drop in no balance needed 1200rwhp I’m wondering if you guys know of a cheaper kit or if piecing it together would be cheaper …….. cars 6.2 e85 intercooled s480 th400 Neal chance converter built Ford 9 going in a fox
Nice build! I was told that as long as you are using the L86 heads, you need the DI pistons to fit the combustion chambers. Katech and Scoggin both told me the same. I am using the Diamond LT pistons, but using Boostline rods that are a lot stronger than the H beams in the gpi kit.. I am not planning on making 1200 wheel either. I believe Diamond says the pistons are good for 2000---you might check to be sure. If you use Boostline or other aftermarket rods, they do not take LT rod bearings---use LS rod bearings. The notch for the tang is in a different spot. I found out the expensive way, now I have a set of LT bearings on the mantle.
I am not using DI on this setup. Changed to port injection. I would think if you had LS heads, (drilled for the LT block) you could use LS pistons?????
