"Since the Corvette was introduced in 1953, it has been the benchmark which hot rodders set their eyes upon. Any performance advancement GM introduces ends up on the Corvette first. It was one of the first American sports cars to feature fuel injection, independent rear suspension, and commonly today guys are gutting junkyard ‘Vettes for their IRS and small-blocks. For the introduction of the C7 Corvette, GM had to step it up with something we’ve never seen before, the 6.2L direct-injected LT1. It’s a completely new set of ideas set to the push-rod V8 geometry we all love. Direct injection, which increases power, fuel economy, and emissions, is a lot more complicated than the Holley four-barrel and therefore creating fear in hot rodders, but we’re here to set it straight and let you know–like the LS–soon everyone will have a Gen V LT1."
