Default L99 swap into 2001 Sierra

Hey guys new to the forum here. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra with the lq4 engine in it currently with 204k on it and I'm looking at swapping the motor for an L99 I found locally on Craigslist for a pretty good deal. Not wanting to rebuild mine because of the motors condition. Looking to do a cam and carb swap on the motor don't want to deal with the fuel injection issues with swapping such a new motor into an older computer. Anyways I've been looking but haven't really gotten the answers I want. Question is if I buy the motor and drop it in and do the 6LS msd box will the motor run or what all do I need to get the thing so it will work? Worth the time and effort or no?

If you want to retain the low end pulling power of a truck engine you might want to put the L92 cam in it. But the L99 cam will be OK. You might want to delete the DOD and VVT as they can be a PITA, a which point an aftermarket truck cam would be better.
