Gen V 5.3l l83 engine swap Have anybody recently did an LS swap with a Gen V? I currently have an 88 Chevy Caprice and trying to do an LS swap with a newer type engine compared to the older LS swap, which I have a lot of questions in regards to doing this swap.
1. Which transmission will be the most preferred a 700r4 or the 6L80 that is compatible with the engine?
2. Can somebody tells me all the parts I would need for this one

2. Do a search of this forum. There is a wealth of knowledge here.
700r4 requires a kickdown cable that would be a mechanical/geometric nightmare to physically connect to a drive by wire gas pedal. Not sure a 6L80e would physically fit in the factory tunnel and would require major surgery and tunnel mods as it's very tall trans. Also the 700r4 would likely not last very long being the weak link in the puzzle. Then you would likely have driveline angle issues to tackle.

I just completed a 2017 Gen V LT1 6.2 and TR6060 swap into an 88 IROC Camaro. I may be able to answer most questions you have.

Everything actually fit pretty good. Only problems I ran into was that nobody makes anything for this swap. Exhaust needed modifying, and trans needed modifying for the shifter. Other then the usual trial and error, it ended up good. Even the Hooker dual exhaust was easy.

Seems like the aftermarket should be stepping up on the Gen V soon but Im not seeing much out there. : ( Super curious about the Gen V for my 68 camaro. Of course I can go Gen3/4 but the 5 is calling me.
