Lt4 rods and pistons to upgrade LT1?

Default Lt4 rods and pistons to upgrade LT1?

I have a set of rods and pistons out of a 2016 Lt4. Is there any reason you couldn't run these in a Lt1 for a stronger bottom end for boost? Just thought it would be a cheap way to go but haven't seen anyone doing it.

Lt4 pistons are lower compression
lt4 comoression is 10.5
lt1 is 11.7

I knew they would lower compression. I just thought the lt4 pistons were forged and the rods were stronger. I just wonder why you don't see people using the lt4 stuff when they boost an LT1. Is there any reason you couldn't I guess is the real question.

I am not 100% sure on that but part of the reason is that many seem to opt for the drop in forged rod/piston combo that doesn't require balancing. That being said with the availability of E85 fuels I wouldn't want to lower compression that much unless you are trying to make a ton of power. I prefer to make the engine as efficient as possible NA then use the least amount of boost to hit the power goal. On my brothers C7Z, he opted for 11.1 pistons to keep his DCR up in a decent range with the cam he is running. The engine still has great tip and low end response. On E40 it will tolerate 18 degrees of timing with 14.5psi. Ideally would like to get the E content up to 60% then it would likely take 20 degrees but he needs injectors first.

I agree with that and understand totally. I just wondered if you could swap the lt4 pistons and rods right in in place of the lt1 rod and Piston with no balancing.
