Lq9 high rpm build? I am looking to do a lq9 swap into my 70 c10, I plan on using my Muncie 4 speed trans with it. I would like to boost the engine later on down the road but I forsure would like to have around 400+ Hp in the build to start off with. I’m looking to build it to be reliable with high rpm ranges due to the 4speed. Any guidance will be very much appreciated! Thank you in advance!!!

This is in the wrong section. The LQ9 is a Gen III engine, not Gen V.
BTW, a stock LQ9 will make 345 HP. A cam alone will take it to 400 HP, and stock LS engines can rev to 6k RPM all day. How much higher do you want it to rev?

The LQ9 has the good rods with full floating pins which is slightly better than non floating rods for RPM. With more compression you can run a larger camshaft that delivers more RPM. If you're running the 317 LQ9 heads with the larger chambers, milling will give a little more than the factory 10.2 compression. 243 heads will bump up the CR more and a set of aftermarket heads even more. My stock bottom end LQ9 with PRC 225 heads and TSP Torquer v4 cam easily hits the 7000 RPM limiter and wants more. With the non milled 317 heads and a Sloppy Stage 2 cam 6500 RPM was about all she could do before falling off.
