Default L8T Engine Build - NEED PISTONS

Well, I have started down a path with a hurdle related to pistons... Here is the build plan...
  • New race prepped L8T OEM block w/unfinished 4.065 bore and 9.240 Deck Height
  • Used L8T OEM Crank 3.86" Stroke
  • New Boostline 6.125 Connecting Rods .927 Pin - 2.225 Big End (LS6125-927)
  • Pistons Needed - 4.070 diameter, .927 Pin, 1.185 Compression Height, 12cc Dish
This combo should yield me roughly an 11:1 static compression ratio utilizing LT1 heads (59cc Combustion Chamber) and 0.050+/- head gasket.

I know I am not the first to do this so who has the off the shelf pistons I need? Reportedly, Wiseco has made them for a few of the big engine builders, but I called every one and they do not have them on the shelf.

Anyone else planning a build like this? A few companies have made 2,000hp+ on a similar setup. Very attractive since it uses a readily available OEM block and crank. And for the record, my goal is roughly 1,000whp in a 2014 Sierra RCSB 4wd.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or recommendations.

I would just call wiseco and have them make them for you.

Agreed. I’d contact an engineer at Wiseco and get them made. But….I have to ask…if you do go this route, why not go, say…4.100, or even 4.125? It would require the chambers opened up a little, which you could do your self if you have the patience and tools. Pistons wouldn’t cost a dime more than 4.070. Cubic inches is free torque, and torque equals power.

I am afraid that is the route I will need to go. Diamond also said they could make the pistons I need. Lead times are depressing though.

The simple answer is, boost. I want the cylinder liners to stay as thick as possible. 402 to 407ci is not worth rendering the block junk if something happens and I need to clean up the cylinders on a rebuild. I can add a smidge more of boost and make up for 5ci easily.
