Ok guys here is what is going to happen.
Comp said they cannot do a "group buy" price on multiple grinds. It would have to be the same grind, or very little variance.
SO, what we're going to do is have a Polluter camshaft group purchase. If you were wanting a different cam I apologize deeply, but it just will not be able to happen.
We may also do a SNS Stage 3 (235/243 .621/.624 111+2) group purchase at the same time as it is a very popular cam.
FYI here are our Polluter camshaft specs for each genre:
LS1/LS6 V.2 : 239/244 .624/.595 112+3
LS2/LQ4 V.2 : 239/244 .624/.595 111+2 (111lsa makes more peak torque in LS1)
LS3 V.2 : 233/248 .619/.595 113+5
LS7 V.2 : 243/254 .661/.630 111+3
LS1/LS6 example with TEA 5.3 CNC heads, Fast 92, 11.4:1 compression, 4400 stall, 4l60e locked during pulls :
Cam only LS1/LS6 example :
LS2 cam only with fast 92 intake example:
LS2 cam only with Fast 92 intake example(this is a LS1 engine not LS2) :
LS2 cam only example vs. stock camshaft :
LS3 Polluter cam only example :
LS3 Polluter cam only example :
LS7 example with factory h-pipe and factory cat-back:
Those are just but a few of the examples I have. As you can see the Polluter cam flat out kicks butt. It is the biggest baddest camshaft we have that is compatible with a stock bottom end engine.
I tell every customer that purchases this cam that P to V is tight. Tighter than what the standard recommendation is. This cam isn't for everyone and I know most of you probably weren't after a Polluter cam. Those that were, here is your shot to pick up one of the baddest of the bad for a reduced cost.
As of right now we don't know what pricing will be or when this will happen. This is the plan though. It will be a Polluter group buy with the possibility of a Saturday Night Special group buy as well if there is enough interest.
Heck, if there is enough interest in some of our other cams where we can get enough people together we'd be glad to offer those as well. From what I was told we need at the very least 10 buyers for each cam profile to get any kind of discount, and at 10 per there isn't much discount. If we can get 15-20 per then the discount will be more substantial.
Let me know guys!

Martin,
Considering all the business you guys do with Comp Cams, and are an exclusive speed shop of theirs, it sucks they can't do more.
That being said, it's obvious you and the other guys at Tick have definitely and thoroughly done your part on checking into all our options. So first of all, Thanks for that!
I'm still on board & hope everyone sees things the same way as I do. I'm sending you a PM shortly with a few questions about my particular application.
Thanks again for all your work on this group purchase option!

For the ones that don't need or want a Polluter cam, would you be interested in a "group buy" if the price was discounted somewhat?
If we had a preset number of people up front committed to a "custom" cam grind, or another shelf grind for a group buy we could possibly come up with a discounted price for that group buy.
It wouldn't be as deep of a discount as the Polluter or SNS group buy due to the nature of the cam grinds, but it would be discounted.
I will explain why Comp can't do one of a different cam grind for everyone for a greatly reduced cost.
When they do different cam grinds they require different programming and different equipment is used etc. A 1 bolt cam core could be needed causing the operator to have to change out the fixture for that core. Then the next core could be a 3 bolt needing to be swapped again.
When the cam is done being ground, if anything about the cam profile needs to change for the next cam, several minutes can be spent just changing everything over to meet the new criteria. Whether programming or fixture wise. If there were 25 cams that were all different that would involve a good amount of time. Thus driving the operating costs higher.
If nothing in the cam profile changes from core to core, then the process is immensely sped up, costing much less in operating costs.
If we could get a set amount of people to commit to different cam grinds than listed here, then we could possibly meet those people's wants as well.

I took the cams out of the line up that weren't used a lot. I felt that having more cams in our line up that have been run in multiple vehicles would prove its performance that much more. If someone needs a cam to pass emissions that is fine, I can custom grind one. Having one as as shelf cam isn't necessary.
As I work in this industry more I have learned that less options are better. Keep it simple. Produce results. Use cams that work and don't complicate the design. The more times we use a cam before it becomes a shelf cam the better. This proves it's ability to perform consistently.

What's weird is almost every customer I've ever sold a very small camshaft to, or a camshaft similar to this doesn't ever get back to me with results. I guess because big numbers with a small camshaft aren't normally the goal, they don't care much about them and don't make an effort to contact me with results. I don't have any numbers.
Coincidentally most guys with big max effort cams, the first thing they do when they leave the dyno is email me! LOL!
Must be an ego thing, hahaha!
