All that open loop means is that there is no indication to the driver/tuner as to what's happening to the engine, as a result of boost. It's the same as having additional guages related to monitoring & controlling the forced induction (boost). Running 4-6 psi can be done without it, as long as the blower set up was tuned properly w/ the correct fueling when installed. Any more than that should be constantly monitored, IMO because of the damaging effects due to a problem w/ the tune.

What I've described has nothing to do with whether or not the engine was initially built to handle the force created by the boost. Even a built for boost engine can be destroyed by a bad tune, under high boost.

I'd be happy to look, but can't offer anything more diagnostic because my tuning software EFILive is for LS1 PCM's. Another option for your friend is to have a guy from PCM'sforless meet him there. If he's set on running high boost, PCM'sforless has a designated LT1 tuner (or @ least had one a few years ago). Either that or just dial the boost back down to 4-6 psi. Start @ 4 psi & if it breaks up (knocks), then start w/ checking the plug heat range & gap, optispark, plug wires, air/fuel ratio. If those things are correct, wouldn't expect it to break up @ all.

Question about the Dyno Day, is it possible to dyno a carb. car after everyone else. We are just looking to get a hp rating for the crazy car, 53' Henry J. w/ a 434 sbc. Best time was a 9.81 1/4 mile at 132mph, this is a straight front axle car.

CHUCK-friends dont let friends drive mustangs.....lol jk. and about the dyno day, we would love to see him get on the dyno, pardon the caps but id like everyone to see this, WE WELCOME ALL GM MUSCLE AT THE DYNO DAY, so yes, we'd love to see him there, im a sucker for big cube sbc's. keep listening to ls1-450, he knows his stuff! check w our dyno guy/mobile chassis dyno, and see what he can do for your buddys car! and if you have anyone else that would be interested in coming, bring em with ya!!!

LS1-450- thanks for your technical help and input. the guy from pcm4less is who tuned my car the first time around. i wasnt to crazy about the tune or quality of dyno time if that makes sense. id have to check w our tuner to see if he has any lt1 compatible stuff.

EVERYBODY- thank you all for your input, looks like we will be going with the ohiolsx route. im glad to see that the message board is getting so active. thats what we want to do is help you guys out w stuff. dyno day looks to be shaping up geat. we have scheduled a rain date for the following weekend, hopefully we wont need it! feel free to continue to find new members, and people to come out to the dyno day, even if its just to cruise and hangout, the more the merrier. also if you guys have any parts you want to get rid of or sell, post em up! im sure someone has somethin someone else is looking for.

so far it looks like we have about 4-5 request for decals, with 2 that have paid. LIKE SAID BEFORE, THEY ARE 10 A PAIR, AND WE WILL BE ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL DONATIONS TO PROVIDE FOOD/DRINKS FOR THE DYNO DAY, we are gonna have burgers, hotdogs, beans and cheesy potatos, chips and drinks, hamburgers and dogs will be cooked on the grill.

Lmao @ friends dont let friends drive mustangs, I agree, it was for my g/f. I swear! Thanks for the info, he will definately bring the Henry J. It should put out some nice numbers. It pulls the front wheels up about 3 feet on the launch, and I have even seen it bring the front wheels up when he hits second gear. Looking forward to meeting everyone too, should be good times.

Just bring my stickers to the dyno day and I'll pay for them there. I don't have a card to put on paypal at the moment lol. I'll bring some mountain dew or something to help pitch in too lol. I'm just excited to get the car and do some stuff with it. I haven't even driven it since october lol.

Yah, I agree that the LS1 tuner @ PCMsfor less isn't that great. However, from what I had seen from the lt1 guy they had, he seemed to have done a good job on the car I saw him tune & was the only guy that cam to mind for Wizard. Agreed that it's best for anyone attending the dyno day to use the tuning services provided by the dyno host.
