Do you know only the shipping costs? If i import a car i have to look for the basic carprice plus shipping plus customs and taxes ( means 24 % of carprice ). It´s expensive, but it`s worth it.

If you go to a reputable US car importer they should handle everything including shipping & sva testing for a reasonable price!
Doing it yourself to germany u'll have to find someone to sell you the car, someone to ship it then you've got 16% vat + duty + clearance fees + duty + conversion + sva test! unless the car price is cheep to begin with!
I had this worry when i first got into US cars & was in the process of purchasing a 98SS from Houston Texas, which fell thru!

Default UK shipping

If I'm buying new gear for my Z28 I use Summit racing because they allow you to choose how you want the item shipped.

They do loads of go faster bits for our cars!

http://www.summitracing.com/catalogs...rapr/298f.html

They offer ups but they also do USPS which is about a quarter of the price for International shipping. most of my parcels are shipped for $30 or less.

They do airmail parcel post USPS 4-10 days and they do economy(By ship takes 3 months) if your not in a hurry. By the time it gets here you will have forgot you even ordered it

I bought a 160 stat from LS1peed.com and they charged me $80 for delivery UPS. I emailed the guy and told him I could come and collect the **** for $99!

Currently is the vat 16% and it climbs up to 19% at beginning of 2007 ( or ending, not quit sure ). So i would check why one company charges you with 16% and the other with 19%. They should charge you with just 16% vat at this time.

Yeah, Everything I have ordered has ended up costing me nearly the same again in shipping and then, as you say, add in the VAT and duty on the parts and the shipping and it ends up double. Then the darn garages charge you a fortune to install the parts, as there specialist shops.

I'm certainly gonna give a few of these suggestions a try, as I do not want to pay double for my new Wheels.

Default Uk Shipping

The largest Item I've had sent is a set of shorty headers for my previous car LT1 Z28 thay cost $75 USPS.

I tried to get the real tail panel sent but USPS have a limlt of 60" on there parcels and it was to long to ship.

I wanted an SLP cat back for the LS1 but shipping was freight because it was so heavy and the cost was $325 plus the cost of the SLP $320 plus about anothe £100 in duty. So I knocked that idea on the head.

What I do when I buy used goods off the guys on here is get them to mark them as value $20 used auto parts then you don't pay any duty and they arrive quicker too! The guys understand because they pay taxes in the state they are in when they by stuff.

Well i jst got my shipping down to $118 i'll just have to wait a little longer for the parts!
I was thinking of gettin a set of stage 2R MTI heads, but i think they exchange for your old heads! so i can see costs rising unless i can work somethin out with them!
I may have to go with Patriots which hav good feedback, reason for MTIs is i'd eventually like to go with a bigger block & keep all the parts matching.

Anyway, I need some new wheels and tires (tyres), and I suppose they'll cost a lot to ship due to the size / weight..... is there anyone from around the Cambridgeshire area that knows someone from a base who can help out... I normally have my work done by a garage at Mildenhal and see loads of US troops, but never get the chance to meet them..

Im at RAF Mildenhall. PM me and I will be glad to help you out. And this aint a scam. I bought a set of BFG KD's w/ shipping $570 was so cheap because the guy gave me a military discount. But my car is wrecked bought it back from the insurance though.
