Newbie in Plano, TX

I just got my car a couple weeks ago and am loving it. It is a 98 SS M6 with SLP lid, ported tb, ls6 intake manifold, 42lbs injectors, ms3 cam with supporting mods, Pacesetter lt, tsp catted y, slp lm1 exhaust (a little too loud), 3.73, bmr lca, mcleod twin disc, hurst. I cant wait to take it to the strip for the first time. I plan to go to Ennis on 9/10.

Everyone that has seen my car has pointed the hard top out to me. Is that rare? I know that it would be more structurally sound but is there another reason.
