Newby to LS motors
I'm John from Tucson, AZ.
I'm a rockcrawer type who has been running a LT1 engine in my rockcrawler and I'm wanting to swap in a LS6 that I bought a couple weeks ago. At least I was told it was a LS6 but I'm not totally sure about that.
The engine block casting #'s say it is a LS6, Head casting #'s say LS1, it has the Vortec Truck intake and the oil pan is from a GTO. I've read that some of the later LS1's came with a LS6 block so until I have to tear down the engine I'll just have to assume it is a LS6.
The reason that I'm changing out my LT1 motor is due to it's being pretty tired and the magor issue is the LT1 develops most of it's horsepower and torque in RPM ranges that don't suit my rockcrawler uses, I'm getting tired of replacing broken Cromemoly axles and other parts.
I've been tinkering with vehicles most of my 57 years on this planet. I've built many different types of race vehicles and offroad vehicles.
I'm currently opening up an offroad shop in Tucson specializing in Rockcrawling type vehicle chassis and suspensions.
