I'm in the process of dropping a 5.3 in my amc matador. I had to cut my crossmember. I found a guy on fsj who makes ls swaps for jeeps. I emailed the guy to see if they would fit into my frame horns.

oh snap! definitely pm me with some pics and more details if you could. my dad has a 1973 AMC hornet x. he just got sponsored by control freaks suspension down in S. Florida. his car gets done in a couple of weeks and we had mentioned doin an ls swap on his car too and they're discussing the possibility of producing k members for ls swaps on amc's. i'll definitely keep you in the loop if the possibility become reality.

Welcome to real power! Not that ford makes a bad engine, but LS motors are truley impressive. For 5grand i built a motor that will keep up with most 10grand+ big blocks. Can't go wrong. Helps that we have a good classifieds here!

LS swap in an AMC that is awesome. The LS is a great engine. I can get 29mpg on a long trip. About 24mpg average between city and highway. All while putting down over 300 at the wheels.
