Just bought a Firebird
Its Automatic, 71,700 miles. It is bone stock besides a K&N re-usable air filter under the stock lid. I plan to keep it that way. No mods because a V6 just dont sound the same so I'll keep it quiet. A couple things the previous owner had done with receipts to prove...
At 48k he had a new set of lifters put in. Along with all new VC gaskets and both Intake mani gaskets. Im just curious..is it common for lifters to go that early? He also had the trans flushed, oil flushed, and coolant flushed. He had a history of the oil changes and always mobil 1 10w-30 and changed it every 3 months...he took care of it.
Im gonna try and not abuse this too much. And i will keep up on maintnence. Even on my escort while i beat it alot i changed the oil 3 times in the year i owned it. I have heard mixed things about 3800s. Some are duds, and blow head gaskets at 100k, others are bulletproof and go 250k. Im leaving it stock so what should i expect?
Thanks
Its all on the how well you take care of the car, ive heard 3800s are pretty strong engines. It should last a good while if you care for it.
