hey oooooh!
I may shoot my self later for trying this but I know at the end of the day I'll still have a pretty bad *** car.so for the motor my goals are to spend no more then $3000 motor included... which I have picked one up for $600. I'm aiming for around 350ish hp. so with an ls6 cam, upgraded valve kit and a proper tune, is that a reachable goal?
I was just reading a thread on the performance trucks forum and it looks like 330-340rwhp can be expected from a cammed 5.3, so maybe the 4.8 will need a little help? That 330-340 is also going through a truck drivetrain and turning truck tires, so I imagine the same engine in a car may see different results, but I dunno. Build it and find out!
$3000 may be tough once you include a trans, swap mounts, mufflers and piping, tuning software, cam and tires... if your putting a cam anyways, upgrade to the yellow valvesprings for when you boost it
but, 350ish shd be no prob for the 4.8 with your setup...
The 740 wagon is a little heavy but will be a great option. i want a 240DL wagon for myself though...
keep us posted, i've had several Volvos so they hold a special place in my heart.
that $3000 price point is just for the motor and whatever I need to do to get it to my 350ish hp goal. I'm a welder/fitter by trade so I'm planning on doing my own headers and exhaust... lol see how that goes. as for the weight... it's getting slutted! everything interior wise is taking a hike except for the rear wagon folding seats, cause you know you gotta keep it functional lol and the dash. thinking on doing a roof cut out and doing like a snap button rag top like you see on a lot of the old hot rods but that's just me thinking. keep you guys posted for sure.
