Default old school to new school

Hello All. Finally picked up a 2002 b4c camaro and trying to learn my way around the LS1 world. Also have a 72 nova that I bracket race. I think I may have a bent push rod or bad lifter in the camaro and so far it only took me 2 hours to get the valve cover off. Heck, I could have had an engine out of the nova...I'm still learning!

They are pretty easy to work on after you get used to them. Welcome!

I just got rid of my 70 Chevelle. I prefer the LS1 cars. You don't get all the looks and comments, but they are damn good drivers for little effort & cash. After building / owning a musclecar for the last ten years, I just got tired of seeing the Chevelle just sit for weeks, sometimes months at a time. I have a 5 year boy and 1 year girl so time fooling with cars has become very tight. I drive my M6 Z28 once or twice a week. I pull it in garage and don't worry about it.

Yeah, the reliability, as well as the performance is unbelievable, compared to the older stuff. There is a reason they changed how they were built. It is almost nothing now to have an aluminum small-block putting out 500 or 600 HP on pump gas, and be an easy daily driver. In the old days, you would have had some thumping cam that wouldn't idle at less that 2000 RPM, and the carbs couldn't handle the jetting, thing would load up driving around on the street. The old stuff is nostalgic, and interesting, but they really are better now.

I hear ya guys. Still partial to my nova. I have owned and raced it on and off for almost 20 years. Not much progress on the camaro, ready to pull the intake, then need to get at the heads. It's a challenge but I'm having fun with it.
