oh no, another old new guy!
I spent about two hours reviewing the section about newbie modification mistakes. Wow, it sounds like at least half of all the mod's I have ever heard about for this motor are worthless.
I'm interested in a strong street car that would have a reliable 400+ rwhp. Can someone suggest the smartest combination of forum kosher modifications to get me there? This would in all likelihood be a 68-72 nova with an auto trans, 12 bolt rear and something like 3.31 gear.
Thanks.
Jack.
All the sections have some worthwhile stickies here's a good one to start with.........

I recognize your name from Stevesnovesite.com. Glad to see you've joined up here as well.
I would suggest doing some searching in our Conversions section. There are many people that have done this sort of swap, and reading about their builds and experiences will give you a better idea of what you're in for and whether or not it's the route you want to take. Here is a link to that section, if you have not already found it:

As for power potential, 400rwhp with an auto trans is very doable with a heads/cam swap on an otherwise stock LS1 block. If you choose to stick with factory EFI, then you'll need custom PCM tuning to get this running correctly though.
