New LSx Owner in FTW,TX - Intro/Questions
Hey guys, my name is Matthew. I currently own a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and an LM7 from a 2003 Silverado 1500.
I am here for some guidance and tech information as I have a 1994 Nissan 300zx that will have the LM7 transplanted into it once things come together. My plans for the moment are to keep the motor somewhat stock, aside from a full refresh of the gaskets, seals and piston rings and a mild cam for NA application. In the future, I would like to move back to a twin turbo setup (my 300zx was originally twin turbo) with a FAST Intake and a Nick Williams (?) 102mm throttle body along with some other goodies.
Currently, I just tore down the block today and have been scouring the forums and Googlebox for answers to all of my questions. I'm trying to piece together the front accessory drive so I can get the motor assembled and then working on the ECM and wiring of the engine to the vehicle.
I have a general understanding of both electronics and wiring as well as car maintenance and modification, but I am having some trouble with the learning curve and locating service manuals, assembly guides and OEM/Aftermarket retailers for the parts I will be needing.
LS1Tech seems to be a great community for information and there is an abundance of LSx information already out there, it's really just sorting through it and managing to get to the information pertinant to your application.
Anyways, I'll probably ask the beginning questions in this thread.
I'll start with: What are some of the other sites and forums you use for information, and what are some of the shops and websites you source for parts?
Thanks guys!
Matt

I'm thinking of just going with a GMPP FEAD kit for simplicity and ease of mind. I just don't know which part number to go with.
19155066 is based on the F-Body/CTS-V orientation and is for the LS1/LS6 engines, but it says it is not compatible with production cast iron blocks
19155067 is based on the Corvette orientation and is for the LS2, LS3, and LS7 engines and does not say that it has any issues with a production cast iron block.
Anybody have any input?

I saw a Yank HD Timing Chain and sprocket the first day I joined the site, but I cannot seem to find it again. I have looked on their site, searched and scrolled with no avail.
Does anyone have a link to the sales ads or a link to the user profile of someone I can order from?

Absolutely nothing on this thread... that's cool.
I'm replacing my LM7 with an LQ9. I plan to refresh the rings and all seals, install ARP studs and hardware in the bottom end and call it good. Once I decide to throw boost at it, I will move to a forged bottom end.
I'd like to post my LM7 up for sale here, but I haven't reached the 50 posts/6 month requirement.... looks like I've got a long way to go with no replies on this
