New Guy from Eastern PA
I'm in the process of making the jump from the 4 cylinder performance world to the big LS world. I have not previously owned an LS equipped car, but I'm no stranger...have worked on plenty over the years and have always had a love for all things LS. Though that being said, I know there is a ton I can still learn, so here I am.
At the moment, I have a 2004 supercharged cavalier as a project car, and as surprisingly fun as the car is, it's definitely time to move on to bigger and better things. I'm sort of reaching the limits of the car's potential without sinking in some major cash at this point, and I'd rather throw that money into something that will go farther.
A little about me; I've done paint and body work for almost 15 years as a hobbiest, and I've been working on cars in general for almost 20..I believe I was maybe 11 or 12 the first time I helped my dad tear down a motor.
I hope to have two new projects to work on. First off, I've found a '53 Chevy locally that I intend to pick up this weekend, and will absolutely being getting an LS transplant. I've been mentally planning/envisioning a build like this for quite some time, so I have a pretty sound plan of what hardware I want to throw at it, and so on. I do have some research to do on what has worked best for people to get to the results I want (frame swap vs custom mounts, etc).
Now that project will probably sit on the back burner for a bit while I gather a parts pile for it, and decide what direction to go in as far as swapping a frame from a later model, or utilizing the original frame with different mounts, etc.
In the meantime, I will need a toy to play with since I'll be selling the Cavalier to fund the new endeavors, so I've been looking around at 4th gen F-bodies for a now project. I'm keeping an eye out for a 6 speed, not as many in my area, but I still have to finish tuning the Cav and get some paint on it before selling, so I have some time to expand out my search.
Which brings me here to LS1tech, I figure since I have a few months til I actually make a purchase on an F-body, I have plenty of time to lurk the forums and read up on things. I have a good idea of what mods I want to throw at the F-body, but I love browsing others' builds and see what has worked for others.
I look forward to seeing everyone's projects!
