Default First Time LS1 Owner

Picked up a 2000 Camaro Z28 A4 with a couple of bolt ons last week. Was looking for a streetable hot rod to take to the track as much as possible. Since I'm in Los Angeles and have to deal with smog, I was originally after a pre- 1975, but I couldn't get over how quick and reliable the LS1 setup is, and ended up finding a smokin' deal on this car.

The car has what looks like a generic K&N ripoff cold air intake, cat delete w/ Flowmaster (which will be an issue with smog next time around). The car has a rebuilt transmission with shift kit and trans cooler. It came with about half of a Zex dry nitrous kit not yet installed, so I'll be piecing that together as well as putting MT Drag Radials on it very soon. Should be running mid-12's soon for under $5000 in a damn good looking car!

I've already been reading up on a bunch of topics, and I'm sure I'll have many more questions once I start digging in, and more appropriately once I start breaking ****. (I'm already saving for a Moser 9")

Any SoCal folks hit me up especially if you ever run at Irwindale on Thursday nights!

Is irwindale a 1/4 or 1/8 mile track. I'm out at ft Irwin (by Barstow). I wouldn't mind running my t/a.

That knock off K and N filter is most likely the SLP Blackwing Filter. Either way, paper is better.

You L.A. folks still have to do roller emission tests?

Irwindale is an 1/8th mile track, but I mentioned the potential (hopeful) 1/4 mile time as that is more of a standard measure around here. Here is a table I reference frequently for 1/8 to 1/4 ET times: http://www.fl-thirdgen.org/quartermileconversion.html

Thanks for the heads up that is likely and SLP Filter. Seems to do the trick, but the plumbing is less than ideal for installing the nitrous nozzle. Trying to figure out if I can tap into the front of the throttle body as I have read this is possible, but also have read it needs to be at least 6 inches in front of the throttle body.

Yep in LA have to do roller sniffer test (which I should be good on for now) as well as a visual test which is where I'm going to have to buy my way out of since the previous owner removed the cat convertors.

And finally I realized I broke the first rule of this forum for posting in the topic since there is another topic solely for introductions, so I will repost this in there. My bad.
