Default New Box on the block

Good morning and merry christmas. I'm a proud owner of a '90 Caprice with boring 'ole 305. I'm new to the LS world and looking to gain some knowledge to help me out with my future project.
Here is a pic of the car, like i said before its a 1990 with 41K original miles and its all original except for what i've done so far. So far all i've done is ad a eaton LSD unit and 3.42 gears to the rear end. I have a CK Performance shift re calibration kit with servo ready to install into the 2004R along with Hotchkis lower trailing arms and upper trailing arms which are on back order.

thats a clean car, swapping in a Ls into the engine bay of it should go pretty good. Wiring info can be found at LT1Swap.com. welcome to the site.

Thanks man. Which ever engine I decide to go with will be carberated in order to keep my trans TV cable in stock location and not worry about having to fabricating anything with the factory EFI system.

if it was my car I would sell your tranny put a 4L60E in place with whatever motor you get. I did a 06 5.3 silverado harness 4L65E in my 76 skylark with DBW. you"ll like the injection over carb a whole lot better. corvette pump/fuel filter will get you going rite way on it. I did the harness myself and sent pcm to LT1Swap.com worked out great.

Yea I thought about that and if the funds become available I might just do that but as of now that's not in the budget.

You"ll probably want to see about flywheel to tranny problem you have to deal with. the torque convertor wont directly bolt to Ls flywheel bolt pattern circle different and need collar to center torque convertor into end of crank. I spent a little more to get rite tranny to eliminate that hassle/expense by going with 4L65E. Some people have drilled holes for convertor but I dont know what they do with crank & torque convertor nub.
