Hey there, I am new to the site, I have been looking/lurking and wanting to put a t56 in all the muscle cars I have/ am building, and now I am considering going LS/t56 for all the numerous reasons that would benefit old heavy A-bodies, like ability for bb power with sb weight, and with the right rear end gearing im sure I could get over 20mpg. As well as the pure fun factor of bangin through the gears.
I have a 67 el camino that as of now has a bbc w/ oval port iron heads. but it is setup to autocross with global west neg roll tubular upper/lower cntl arms, edelbrock ias shocks all the way around, hotchkis bbc 1 inch drop springs all the way around, hotchkis rear boxed control arms upper/lower, rear hotckis sway bar. Centerline 18x8.5/18x10 w/ nitto NT05s 255/45/18 and 285/35/18. Car really needs that t56, and was thinkin even for the LS cuz that 412 BBC is probably double the weight of the LS1.
I also have a 72 ss454 chevelle that is similar in parts, and my daily driver is a lancer evo 9.5.

Sounds great but a T56 gets to be annoying shifting all the time for city driving. They have there place I enjoy them on long haul road trips. 3:42, 3:55, 3:73 are great street gears & great comprimise with T56 or overdrive automatics.
