N My name is Shawn, I'm 35 and been around cars and engines most of my life. I haven't kept up with new tech like I would have liked over the years, so now I'm playing catch up.
My current project is a 1984 Chevy C30 3+3 Dually. My goal is to rebuild and restore to a factory look. The end purpose of the truck will be driveablitity and some towing. It currently has a 454, but was born with a 6.2L diesel. My initial thoughts were to swap to a 6.0LS with some power upgrades to get my towing capacity and overall performance higher. I'm now considering rebuilding the 454 OR swapping to a 6.5L turbo diesel. I know, I know the 6.5 is a "dog". Well, with recent improvements in technology, it can be an extremely reliable motor without the issues of the past. Which driveability and reliability will be my main goals.
I'm here to do research on the LS and find out what the pros and cons are and if I really want to go with an LS or stick with old school.
