New from saskatoon
I am new from SK, Canada. I recently purchased my first LS1 engine. I plan on doing this swap in my 1988 firebird formula. I want the car to have about 450-500 reliable horsepower with your help. And I know that I will have to upgrade everything else such as brakes and suspension and transmission and rear end. I owned this car since 2001. It has been my first car and I have been separated from it for the last 11 years since I moved from home. I plan on returning and getting my car this summer.
Now the engine I found from a friends friend is a 98 ls1 that came from a auto car. The PCM is included, AC compressor, manifolds and catalytic converters.
The good news it has a new ls2 oil Pump, new timing chain and cover, new oil pan ( was bought for a 68 camaro crossmember clearance), new lifters, push rods, and valve springs and a new 230-234 lsa 113 comp cam. As well as new bbk fuel rails. It has new adjustable rocker arms which are not installed because they need new top pan spacers to clear. So the oem were used. The engine has not been started since the mods, rumoured to have about 70,000k on it.
The bad I need a flex plate, and front accessories and brackets.
I think I will use the Holley third gen ls swap kit, it looks straight forward and I can use a 4l80 transmission if I can find one. There are some things that I like to keep within a budget such as considering a ls6 intake. And maybe some 243 heads. But I need to learn more first. And listen to some of your recommendations and any questions you have for me I will answer to my best ability .
Thanks
Jay
