Default "get a load of the new guy"

hey, hey,hey!

Greetings from the horrible part of Texas. I let you tell me what part you think so I know to never go/move their either. after reading 13 pages on ABS INOP and TCS OFF I figured why not join the party for any questions I might have. my posting will probably be few and far between cause im not experienced on push rod punishment but im a damn good mechanic if I do say so myself...which I did...and I do.

I have a 97 furburd that I, of course, want to make faster. ive been lurkin here a couple times and reading different options. lots of people trying to be sub 11's on a strip. cant say I share the same determination. im more or less trying to be fast on the highway. I don't have the desire to be the fastest on a 1/4 mile. all im doing looking to do is be fast enough to put a few of these boy racers back in place. so in that sense Im not looking for 0-60 speed, more like 60-120 speed but keep it N/A. im understanding the limitations and we'll see what I can do

I plan to sink in all the info I can so in the span of 2 years when I have the money I know EXACTLY what I need to order. everything under the hood and body being exactly what I need to get what I want with not a dime spent on aesthetics. my head lights don't go down, the clear coat on the bumper is peeling, the dash is cracked, etc etc and I don't want to change a thing on that. I want it to be ugly as hell and fast as a pig on fire. an A-10 of the I-10, if you will.

so thanks for any and all help, look to learn a lot. hahah what the hell is this?

Welcome, don't have too much fun around here. I'm also on the 2 year budget plan, currently stripping my block and ordering my cam this week, hopefully I'll continue piecing it together slowly

Do you have a V8 or V6?
If you have a V6 car you are better off selling it and just buying a V8 fbody and modding it.

but but, you can turbo a 3800 and its just as quick isnt it?!?

naw dude its a formula. i know better than that at least.
all i know now is that it has SLP intake and exhaust, 4.10 gears, aaaaand its a stick. bought it from my brother (by service) and i think the baffles are gone cause its just stupid loud. i know SLP's are loud to begin with but this is...just painful.

great part about this section of texas, no emissions crap.
