Hey everyone, name is Rich. I own a 91 Caprice I plan on having 5.3 swapped, but could really use so help finding a donor vehicle. From what the fellas I work with (I work at a local GM dealership) tell me, I need to find either a 06 or older so I don't have the AFM woes, preferably with 243 heads, or 07 up then tune the AFM out, and maybe eventually need to replace the lifters with LS6 lifters to fix the collapse issue. Is all this good info so far? I'm trying to learn the differences in the 5.3 LS truck engines so I know what vehicles to keep and eye out for. If I can find one with a good trans I'm planning on buying the whole vehicle and do a entire drivetrain and PCM/harness swap.

The only Gen 3 5.3s with 243 heads are L33s. They carry a hell of a premium, so plan to pay a lot for one.

Depends on what you plan to do with it. If you're not wanting to make huge power, any year 5.3 will do the trick.
