Default New guy from PA

Hello all,
My name is Alan and my next project is to put a 6.0 with a 4L80E is my Sonoma. I am looking for a 03 or newer van as a donor. I will be putting in a Ford Explorer 8.8 limited slip rear end and modify it to fit, with 373:1 gears. From what I am reading, it sounds like the CPW harness is the best way to make it play with the Sonoma. I have had this truck for almost 4 years and will never sell it. I painted it, replaced the entire suspension and lowered it 2inches front and back just to scratch the surface of what has been redone. I will have to modify the floor to accept the new trans, so I bought seats from an Audi A4 to replace the junk that came from the factory while I do that. This is the first time I have joined a forum but not the first time to put a V8 in a S-10. I'd love to hear some comments and suggestions to make the LS engine perform better than stock. 98 Sonoma that's getting an LS

Clean truck, should be a fun ride when she's finished. We have a lot of customers that have had great results from a solid 6.0 with just a boost cam and our supercharger making over 550 whp.

Thanks, When I am ready I will look you up. How will the supercharger effect this as it will be my daily driver? I'm not as concerned with fuel mileage as reliability maintenance. I was hoping for 400hp. 550hp is incredible! Maybe I should be looking for a 9" not a 8.8??? All good things to think about.

Our superchargers are tailored for the daily street driven guys at a respectable power level. They are extremely reliable, self contained oil system, 8 rib drive belt, and we have a limited lifetime warranty on them. So no worries on dependability on that side of the build! Clean S10. My friend is putting one together and hung a 4.10 LSD Explorer 8.8 under it. Here's a good reference for finding the right one in the junkyard: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...le_codes.shtml

We pulled it for $175 disc to disc here in Maryland, don't know what prices are by you. Have fun with your build!

Thanks for the link, I picked up a 8.8 with 373 gears limited slip for $160. Ordering parts to rebuild it and then narrow it to fit. Any ideas on the best place to get axles made?

Default Manual or Automatic

I just picked up a 6.0 out of a 2002 Silverado with 140k. I was originally going to put a 4l80e in but am thinking about a 6 speed. The only reason I was thinking about an automatic was my knees are killing me! (Don't get old)
My question is: What 6 speed should I be looking for to bolt up to the 6.0? It will need to handle 400hp plus. Thanks!
