EFI noob with LS swap

Smile EFI noob with LS swap

Hi, I'm Erik. I'm new to EFI. I've been building traditional hot rods for 30 years, mostly Pontiacs. I just bought an LS swapped Land Rover and I'm trying to figure out how to hack it. The builder left it in a terrible state.
I am trying to learn on this project with plans for an EFI conversion on an old mechanical injection setup. I work in technology, but have always been old school tech with cars.

Thanks. Hopefully just some finishing details needed. No ODBII port, but he did run the single serial wire into the cabin. It's in limp mode (cuts at 81 mph), and it pings badly at part throttle. I just ordered an HPtuners kit and I'll post a full thread as soon as I have more info to share with the forum.

Grab an OBDII port from a junkyard, or ebay ($11). It just needs the serial wire, 12v constant, and ground.

Is the PCM that's connected to it the original for that engine? It almost sounds like it has a van PCM.

I don't know where the PCM came from. Has red/blue connectors. Was told it is a 2008 truck 5.8. Intake/throttle body seems to be camaro or vette with cable throttle. The truck intakes would never clear the hood.
This weekend I'll do an inventory of the parts such as MAF type/injectors, etc. But I need another week until I have time to hack into the PCM.

It can't be a 2008. If its red/blue it would have to be 03 at the latest.

The truck PCMs have a 99 mph speed limiter on them. If you have a smaller tire or shorter gear ratio that the truck was originally equipped with, it would explain your 81 mph speed limiter.

From the sounds of it, the PCM isn't properly setup. Would explain your problems.

Indeed, I'll have to see what's up when I get connected. The PCM is 99-02, along with the intake and throttle body, not the long block. The Rover speedo works and is only 3-4 mph off. I verified 81 as the trigger using GPS. I did find a truck limp mode that specifies an 81 mph cutoff when the temp spare is mounted.
