Default LS Swap - ProTouring Goals

Pretty excited about putting together a small-ish LS in an old platform - right now it looks like a '72 Cutlass.
My goals:
  • Car that I look forward to getting in every day.
  • Reliable - I figure if you put together a nice LS swap in an old car, you have 70-80% of reliability issues addressed with current, more reliable parts than an old muscle car (alternator, starter, "carb", fuel delivery, etc.)
  • MPG's - 25 highway. Should be pretty easy to attain.
  • Comfortable - seat upgrade, power windows, A/C, quiet exhaust
  • 400 - 500 HP. Will be tempting to over do it here. I really don't want to be breaking rear ends, u-joints and transmissions.
  • Suspension upgrades - possibly some new A-arms, bushings, etc.
I'd take a 5.3 or 5.7, LS6-ish cam, LS6-ish heads, FITech electronics and intake, long tube headers, Tanks Inc. fuel tank and pump, T56 or equivalent.

Should be fun!
