Greetings from central NY I`m on my first swap, and first ls rebuild. lq9 at the machine shop now. Block is good, no boring or honing needed. Updating all internals except rods (new bolts yes) and crank. I`d like to mill the stock 317`s 20-30 k, add a truck cam, (209/217 550 duration 112 lsa) and a TBSS intake. My goal is to keep some low end pulling power, and add some mid range power. Every day driver 1998 k1500. Just want to have some fun.
OR, Will i get much more by adding a set of 823`s with the truck square port intake, truck cam (216/220 550 duration 114 lsa)
Where do you think these will hit on rwhp?

Welcome to LS1Tech! Sounds like a fun project. I’m a big square port fan myself and I’ve built several for street use, but I gotta say here if your just looking for something to have fun in and daily drive, keep the 317’s and enjoy the thing. A lot of times, the simplest plan is the funnest plan. Funny thing here is you ask 5 people, you get 5 opinions. Enjoy the journey!
Thanks! I know, everybody has an opp-ion. I guess my real end goal was to achieved 400 hp. The motor comes stock at 345, hoping i achieve that with milling 317`s , cam, intake, and headers. Also a good tune! Don`t have money to just throw around. I appreciate your input.
