Howdy. Briefly, USMC Vietnam veteran, retired cop, Squarebody nutcase. About to swap in an LS w/ 4L80E to replace a tired, leaky gas-guzzling 350 for my '78 Chevy C20. Going nutz trying to decode and understand year/date codes and exactly what LS I've got. Totally ignorant about this engine as I am an old school SB rotating distributor kind of guy. Found in a friend's garage who passed away - very clean ready to go, appears to be all stock, but no documentation. Here are the numbers and a pic: "12598301". Below this number is "10 179 07" then 1.0 below that and what appears to be a date wheel with the number 07. Anyway, help greatly appreciated. Semper Fidelis to any Marines out there.
