Newbie from Texas Hello all,
I have a 71 Camaro with a 396bb 4sp that I am looking to do the LS Swap. I would like to know what All i would need to make this happen. I have my eye on a stock ls3 motor and I'm looking for some thoughts about what transmission I should go with. I believe my rear gears are stock that came with the 6 cylinder out of the factory. I'm really looking at building just a daily driver but with a little kick. I am a novice when it comes to this so any info would be greatly appreciated. Tia.

Welcome to LS1Tech! Check out our Conversions And Hybrids section. Do a search over there for second gen camaros and you’ll get plenty of examples of how to do your swap. My advice to you would be to be honest with yourself concerning budget and timeframe. It usually takes about double of each. There are several companies that make swap parts, but if you can get a complete kit for the swap, meaning headers, engine/trans mounts, oil pan, crossmembers, ECM, harnesses, etc....will make your life much easier. Holley makes everything you’ll need to make this work, with a quality product. The most often overlooked items for a swap are the fuel system, and the tune after it’s all done. The final product will be a car that’s reliable and fun to drive. Will be the best move you’ve ever made with the car.
