Just picking up a mint 01 SS-SLP with 30,000kms.
Car is factory stock 4L60E with 3:24 gearing, however appears to have an LS6 intake already at first glance.
I have built lots of older SBC and this is my first LS1, so I have been reading a wealth of good information on here.
Likely going to throw some good longtube headers and exhaust on it first, then determine where I want to be with cam selection and final drive while selecting a good street converter...Car will be a summer toy, likely hit the drag strip once a summer. Have a good transmission shop near me, so we will pull the auto apart when doing the converter and beef things up and make the required changes, as he has a ton of experience with these electronic versions.Logically I will get a good tune done done.
Would prefer staying with stock heads and I am not expecting miracles and not chasing dyno numbers, I have been faster than 100hp more cars just by having a better setup.
Only thing more I want to do is upgrade the suspension later on, and put some better wheel tire combo on it to make it handle decent.

Thanks for the web site, lots of good reading on here.

Welcome to the site.

Stock gearing would be 3.23 for an auto SS car, that ratio was a mandatory option. No other ratio was available for SS auto.

The LS6 intake came stock on all LS1 engines from 2001 onward, so that's original from the factory.

Have fun with the build!
