Default New Human

Hello! I am working on doing a swap on a 90s miata. I don't yet have the car, but doing research before hand never hurt. If anyone has any help info or links for doing an LS swap on a miata, I would appreciate it greatly.

So just going to point at something I think is cool..
Look at the 2014 Silverado 4.3 V6. lighter than the V8, All Aluminum basically a V6 LS engine.. and around 300 HP .. Stock.
Its a DI motor, the aftermarket tuning is just really starting to hit stride..
I've driven a couple big motor miata's 325 HP is about all your going to get to the ground in one.
After that its just a device to create a lot of cool noise and tire smoke.
The other advantage is its light enough to run a TKO 5 speed behind and it will all fit soo much easier.
And in the cool factor part that 4.3 likes to rev.. Also those motors with transmission show up for 2500 bucks in yards.

Only main piece of advice is document your motor well, so if you decide to sell it someday your not building a loss.
The motor needs to be same year or new and if made after 1996(IIRC) it now has to be the same manufacturer.
I know folks will pop up saying "We don't have smog checking" nanner nanner,, BUT its a federal requirement, if
for instance you drove to Canada or Mexico and its non compliant, and you get unlucky coming back,, you can be totally screwed..
Your state of registration does not protect you from another state calling you out at a roadside inspection either..
Many of the Diesel truck guys are learning this.. after pulling the combusters off their exhaust..

FUn project!

Yea,, My folks snow bird to AZ every year,, California has started picking on the ones that have the combuster off the motor.
My dads truck has it removed because he does consulting on road construction and they modify the exhaust to prevent brush fires..
He got jerked around at the CA border last time.. So now no more travel through there..
Also try driving though MOAB with short fenders and no mudflaps on your Jeep.. Lots of stories on the jeep web pages about it..

Looking forward to your project..
