Greetings from SC!
I've been working on my 74 Nova project since 2011. I've stepped up the effort over the last 2 years and hope to be finishing up by the end of year 11. Essentially, my car was built around the rear wheels & tires. Because of the mods I had to make to fit them, the project took on some considerable mission creep. It's a pro-tour on-a-budget project. I say this because I didn't/couldn't buy all the high dollar chassis components and opted to fabricate as much as I could. I back-halved the car, hand built the 4-link suspension, narrowed and built the 8.5" GM 10-bolt, fabricated the cage and tube chassis. The car was rusted out pretty bad, for a southern car, and I've had to replace many panels. This project is my 1st major built of this nature. I've got a complete build thread on another forum which I'm happy to share but don't want to step out of line by posting the link here. Because of the money involved, the biggest spend to date on this project, and my timeline, I opted to have the engine built professionally. I did my best selecting suggested components based on my goals/budget and shared that information with my builder as a starting point. 550Hp/550Tq NA on pump gas was the goal. I wasn't as concerned with peak HP figures as much as the torque curve. This car is intended to be street driven primarily. If it sees any track time, it will be a special event for fun, not competition. The car is probably overbuilt for it's intended purpose but like I said...mission creep.
