LSX Thunder
I wanted to refresh the 6l80e and keep the 2.91 final drive and have instant, torque monster response. That car deserves it. Holden went a little crazy toward the end and finally built their LS 3 "Limousine", determined to have a car with a 50/50 weight distribution front and rear, and side to side. No four-door sedan they ever built came closer than 53/47. Not unlike the 53/47 two-door 5th gen Camaro. The Commodore/G8/Chevy SS are all 53/47. The Australian market Caprice Royale was a very expensive car from 2011 to the end in 2017, marketed as a luxury limousine, available perfectly balanced with an LS3, and slightly heavier LS7 and LS9's also available. HSV's. The Hot Rod Company promised 650 ft lbs torque and 650 HP before 6300 RPM. Independently dyno'd by Revolution Street Cars of Las Vegas, NV confirmed it. Imagine the quietest such car. The Driveshaft Shop of N.C. required exact measurement to fabricate a one-piece aluminum driveshaft that weighs 18 lbs to replace the two piece steel one at 36 lbs. HSV carefully spec'd extensive chassis bracing that retains the 50/50's WD while making the chassis ultra-rigid. Michelin Pilot Super Sports on lightweight 18X9.5" wheels in 285/35-18. Odd fact, Michelin makes a Pilot Sport4s in that size that is 10.2" wide and the Pilot Super Sport which is 11.2" wide. Odd.
