My son and I got a v6 camaro cheap. We got it started and it threw a rod through the block. Now we're looking to put a 6.0 lq4 in it. Joined to find out more about the swap.

I swapped my 1998 V6 automatic to a 1999+ LS1 / T56. I had a donor car to swap most everything over, here is my thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...o-ls1-t56.html
First, you'll need an engine harness / ecm for the V8. You should be able to use an LS1 harness, but the 98 is a one off year for engine harness / ECM. The "easiest" swap would be to put a 98 ecm / engine harness in, but unfortunately the 98 ecm isn't that versatile when it comes to tuning, you might have an issue finding a tune for the lq4 if its needed.
Otherwise, you can get a 99+ harness and ecm that is more capable at tuning, but doesn't plug and play to your 98 dash harness. There are other threads about converting 98 dash harnesses to work with 99+ ecms.
You can also go the standalone route, Holley, etc.
You will also need a LS1 kmember, and the V6 transmissions do not bolt onto the LS1 / lq's.
Here is a good starting point list, for some other things too:
